Job Description
Operating mammography devices, positioning patients accurately, and validating image quality and precision are primary responsibilities of the Mammographer, who collaborates closely with radiology leaders, radiologists, and medical personnel. The early identification of breast cancer and other breast-related issues is a crucial aspect of the Mammographer's role, ultimately impacting patient outcomes positively. The Mammographer conducts mammographic tests, collaborates with radiology management and medical staff, and ensures the correct operation of mammography equipment to assist in diagnosing breast irregularities.
Essential Job Function:
- Carries out mammography procedures by utilizing mammography machinery and adhering to prescribed guidelines to detect breast abnormalities accurately and promptly.
- Performs all tests and precisely logs results in Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) software to maintain detailed and readily available patient records.
- Recognizing and managing all expenses connected with investigations, resolving any inaccuracies or complications related to the completed document transmitted to PACS to secure precise cost identification and sustain financial soundness and adherence.
- Demonstrates a firm dedication to promoting safety protocols and fostering a culture of fairness, by following procedures to correctly verify patients, reduce laterality mistakes, prevent falls, and minimize radiation exposure by applying the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principle.
- Meets all yearly competency standards promptly, keeping abreast of advancements in mammography techniques to maintain competency in delivering high-quality patient services.

Education:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program.

Licensure/Certification/Listing:
Required: ARRT (R)(M) MAMMOGRAPHY
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
