Job Description
The Behavioral Health Clinician provides team based behavioral health services and care coordination in the primary or specialty medical settings. The Behavioral Health Clinician provides a range of brief, solution-focused interventions for prevention, health promotion, and treatment of mental health, developmental, and psychosocial conditions to improve their ability to function. Working under close supervision, this role conducts psychosocial assessments and longer-term treatment plans if indicated.
Essential Job Function:
- Performs concise, evidence-centered, and developmentally fitting psychosocial evaluations or screenings when necessary.
- Understanding a patient's diagnosis, illness, or treatment can be improved by exploring emotional, social, and environmental factors.
- Supports patients in receiving brief therapeutic interventions and guides them in preparing and implementing treatment plans to aid in their return to optimal functioning.
- Functions effectively as a part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, engaging with patients, their families, and other involved parties.
- Assists the healthcare team in conducting crisis evaluations and formulating safety plans with the availability of a behavioral health specialist during specified work hours.
- Stays up-to-date on community health and social service providers to increase the availability of behavioral health services for patients through cooperative efforts or referrals.
- Informs the patient and their family about the treatment pathways and options in behavioral health care, aiming to boost morale and facilitate continuous improvement after being discharged.
- Maintains precise and timely documentation of patient care and treatment response strategies in medical records for the purpose of monitoring the recovery process.
- Assists patients by advocating for their interests and managing ethical issues or possible risks that may emerge during treatment.
- Undertakes supplementary duties as needed.
Education:
- Required: Master's in social work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or related fields.
Experience:
- Preferred: Experience working in a healthcare or mental health setting providing behavioral health interventions.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: One or more of the following licensures: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSW-A), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A) License Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Psychologist (LP), or Licensed Psychologist Associate (LPA)BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider is required but waived if team member is 100% remote and does not meet in person with patients.
