Job Description
In the role of Pharmacy Manager, one must effectively plan, integrate, oversee, and appraise the human, material, and financial resources essential for the provision of pharmacy services to inpatient and outpatient programs. This position plays a key role in facilitating, organizing, and supervising the staff, supplies, and financial means necessary to achieve pharmaceutical, distribution, and advisory services that endorse nursing and medical oversight of patient care.
Essential Job Function:
- Supervises pharmacy programs by continuously analyzing the demands for pharmacy services and workload concerns while assessing the performance of the department.
- Establishes and enhances pharmacy department targets and aims through the analysis of organizational aspirations and relevant statistical information, in addition to input from both clients and team members.
- Participates in cross-functional teams and committees to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by initiating and overseeing performance enhancement efforts within the pharmacy department.
- Supports in cultivating and advancing cooperative endeavors within healthcare system pharmacies that strategize and carry out activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Analyzes cost discrepancies on a regular basis, pinpoints their origins, and establishes strategies to address them effectively and promptly.
- Coordinates with customers, committees, and senior executives to handle overall expenditures within the system (e.g., payroll, pharmaceuticals, healthcare supplies).
- Forecasts and modifies staffing in response to diverse patient care demands.
- Guides and instructs pharmacists, technicians, and support staff on executing pharmacy services in specified pharmacy sectors.
- Executes any other tasks as necessary or allocated.
Education
- Required: Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharm.
- Preferred: MHA, MS Pharmacy or Pharmacy Administration, MBA, or other advanced degree in pharmacy or healthcare leadership.
Experience
- Required: 7 years total pharmacist experience with 3 years in a pharmacy leadership role.
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Current active license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina, or eligible to obtain North Carolina pharmacy license within two (2) months of date of hire.
