Job Description

Overview:

The role of a Registered Nurse RN Float involves delivering flexible nursing assistance across multiple units and departments as needed. Operating with versatility, individuals in this position work with various healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care, ensure smooth transitions, and maintain quality standards in a variety of clinical environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Fluidly moves between various nursing units and departments to ensure comprehensive care and support in different medical scenarios.
  • Teaming up with interdisciplinary groups, physicians, and support personnel to distribute care that revolves around the patient and to secure optimal communication across units.
  • Performs comprehensive assessments of patients' conditions and needs, adjusting care plans based on individual diagnoses and medical histories.
  • Responds promptly to emergency situations, offering immediate nursing care and support to help stabilize patients in critical conditions.
  • Contributes to patient placements, admissions, and transfers, utilizing understanding of bed allocation and capacity planning to enhance patient flow within the medical facility.
  • Executes tasks beyond the regular responsibilities.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 1 year as a registered nurse

Preferred: 1 year of clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required:

Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state

BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider

If working in a critical care area, ACLS-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider is required.
