Job Description
The Supervisor Ultrasound plays a crucial role in overseeing the overall functioning of the radiology department, managing staff members, and ensuring the provision of diagnostic sonographic services. They supervise a team that performs ultrasound examinations to detect, evaluate, and document critical anatomical and pathological data accurately. This position emphasizes the importance of adherence to safety guidelines, high-quality imaging procedures, and continuous professional development amongst team members, resulting in precise diagnostics and optimal patient outcomes.
Essential Job Function:
- Manages and supervises personnel, plans schedules, manages the flow of work, and ensures patients receive top-notch care in a systematic and patient-oriented setting that encourages superior ultrasound imaging services.
- Manages and executes top-notch regular and distinct ultrasound tests based on established guidelines and techniques to lessen the necessity for repetitive examinations and aid in the precise diagnosis and therapy of individuals, ensuring the best possible patient care.
- The safety and well-being of patients undergoing ultrasound scans are prioritized through the clear explanation of the procedure, addressing any anxieties, and properly positioning patients for a comfortable and positive experience.
- Supervises the application and care of ultrasound devices, troubleshoots technical challenges, and fine-tunes imaging configurations to generate top-notch visuals for accurate analyses by radiologists or doctors.
- Confirms the correct documentation and recording of patient information, examination particulars, and preliminary assessments into the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), rectifying any inaccuracies in the completed PACS submission to uphold precise patient records and establish detailed documentation for efficient care communication and consistent treatment.
- Oversees the finalization of employee time documentation, delivers mentoring, enforces disciplinary procedures, and performs appraisals to cultivate personnel advancement, synchronize results with standards, and elevate the skill level of the ultrasound unit.
- Supervises adherence to industry norms by overseeing the fulfillment of accreditation standards, coordinating assessments of equipment, and carrying out periodic quality assurance checks in the ultrasound division.
- Carries out any other assigned responsibilities.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program
Experience
- Required: 2 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderARDMS Ultrasound Technologist, ARRT RT(S) Ultrasound Technologist or CCI RVSRVT/RVS Registered Vascular Technologist required for sites without onsite Vascular Lab (APH, ARMC, & MedCenters)Where required, all current Cone Health Sonographers will have 2-years to successfully complete RVT requirement. Any new candidate sonographer will have 16 months to successfully complete RVT requirement.Additional Information on required licensure/certification/registry/listings:OB/GYN and/or ABDOMEN and/or BREAST and/or VASCULAR and/or PEDSPreferred:RVT/RVS Registered Vascular Technologist preferred for sites with onsite Vascular Lab (MCH & WLH)
