Job Description
Responsibilities of the Supervisor Lab Weekend at the hospital include supervising staff and operations in the laboratory during weekend shifts. This includes ensuring that laboratory procedures are performed correctly, maintaining compliance with standards and safety guidelines, and liaising with healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate diagnostic services. The Supervisor Lab Weekend plays a key role in maintaining operational efficiency and supporting the hospital's mission of delivering exceptional patient care.
Essential Job Function:
- Critiques findings of laboratory tests being conducted by examining samples and interpreting patient specimens for specific diseases or genetic anomalies.
- Confirms the arrival and registration of new specimens, ensuring their accurate transmission to the relevant medical laboratory personnel.
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, upholding uniform quality and output benchmarks, and managing customer service matters to guarantee operational effectiveness and client contentment.
- Oversees the completion of mandatory annual competencies for test systems by staff members and ensures timely fulfillment, offering essential training and assistance where necessary to uphold laboratory quality standards and comply with regulations.
- Supervises measures for quality control and assurance to support the functionality of instrumentation and testing systems and secure the accuracy of results.
- Manages staff numbers and inventory supplies effectively while staying within budget boundaries for efficient resource distribution.
- Manages and monitors testing protocols across the entire spectrum (before testing, during testing, after testing) as per established guidelines, ensuring dependable and precise findings to secure the honesty of laboratory examinations, which significantly impact patient healthcare and detection.
- Furnishes thorough support to staff members, aiding them in navigating processes, troubleshooting problems, and finding solutions, all the while organizing training programs for both newcomers and current team members to promote expertise enhancement and maintain the provision of excellent services.
- Executes any other responsibilities as directed.
Education:
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science.
Experience:
- Required: Four years of laboratory experience in a high complexity laboratory in designated specialty or subspecialty.
- Preferred: Two to four years supervisory or leadership experience.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification from one of the following upon hire: ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) or AMT (American Medical Technologists).
