Job Description
To meet the customer service needs of the hospital, the Environmental Service Technician is tasked with cleaning and disinfecting patient areas, treatment areas, restrooms, and public spaces according to departmental standards. Operating under close supervision, this role follows environmental and infection prevention standards mandated by external regulatory agencies to prevent the spread of illnesses.
Essential Job Function
- Proper forms were utilized to accurately record cleaning tasks and document items.
- Keeps the supervisor informed about ongoing tasks and works together to solve complex or urgent issues.
- Supports in monitoring and adjusting supply levels to achieve a balance between departmental demands and budget constraints.
- Assists in the upkeep of equipment and storage areas to ensure the smooth running of departmental operations.
- Undertakes the task of treating and removing carpet stains as necessary to uphold a visually appealing environment for visitors and patients.
- Helps in the choice and application of cleaning solutions and devices to protect against harm and disinfect thoroughly to decrease illness risks within a space.
- Adheres to departmental cleaning standards to meet customer needs by performing tasks such as routine and weekly cleaning, discharge room cleaning, medication room cleaning, IV storage room cleaning, and refrigerator cleaning.
- Refrains from touching medications and is accompanied when in spaces where narcotics are present.
- Making adjustments in response to prioritized needs allows for a more efficient allocation of resources and efforts.
- Engages in further duties as deemed necessary.
Education:
- Required: Associate's degree in nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse.
- Preferred: 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state.
- BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
