Job Description
In collaboration with skilled technologists, the Student Radiographer assists in performing diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays, to create visual representations of specific anatomical areas on patients. This role involves mastering the art of patient positioning, operating radiographic machinery, and ensuring a secure environment, while acquiring valuable hands-on experience in different clinical scenarios. The Student Radiographer's unwavering dedication to acquiring knowledge and upholding standards of patient care is pivotal in achieving accurate diagnostic imaging outcomes and delivering optimal healthcare services.
Essential Job Function:
- A discussion ensues amongst healthcare professionals specializing in technology regarding the targeted body area for imaging.
- Strengthens the capability to verbally assist the patient throughout the procedure and respond to any queries to decrease their nervousness and enhance their comprehension of the process.
- Learns the art of positioning the patient accurately and fine-tuning the imaging apparatus to the specified position for generating clear images of targeted body parts.
- Helps in preventing avoidable radiation exposure for healthcare workers and individuals undergoing medical procedures.
- Follows correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding to ensure adherence to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic imaging services.
- Helps with the completion of mandatory paperwork for all procedures to maintain correct patient documentation and streamline communication between healthcare providers.
- Undertakes supplementary duties as instructed.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
