Overview:
The Birthplace Technician is responsible for organizing the surgical scrub responsibilities for patient care in the Birthplace department. With supervision, this position assists the surgical team by handling tasks such as equipment and area management, conducting regular assessments, and recording patient data.
Responsibilities:
Monitors and communicates any observations of variations in a patient's status to facilitate adjustments to the treatment regimen by the circulating nurse.
Coordinates the equipment by ensuring the accurate count and procurement of sterile medical supplies in labor and delivery areas and ORs, guaranteeing physician readiness for procedures and surgeries.
Records intraoperative and intrapartum care details to ensure precise completion of hospital data documentation. Assists the circulating nurse in recognizing, tagging, and safeguarding surgical specimens for later analysis.
Utilizes various communication tools like telephones, patient call buttons, and pagers to facilitate interaction with the public as required.
Works together with coworkers to devise plans for achieving the specified goals of the department or program.
Executes additional tasks as required.

Required:
Certified Surgical Technologist or Certification eligible. Certifications should come from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, Must successfully sit and pass Certification examination within 12 months from employment hire/start date. For Surgical Technologist hired prior to 12/31/2017, certification requirement will be waived.
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
