Job Description
The Advanced Practice Provider with a focus on IP/OP Specialty Care furnishes specialized healthcare services to patients across both inpatient and outpatient settings while working collaboratively with physicians. Duties entail patient evaluation, interpretation of diagnostic tests, and formulation and implementation of treatment plans tailored to meet the individual needs of patients in conjunction with other healthcare team members. Inpatient/Outpatient Specialty Care areas encompass a variety of medical fields including Cardiology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Oncology, Infectious Disease, Plastic Surgery, Pulmonary, Orthopedics, Pediatric Sub-Specialty, Adolescent Medicine, Urology, Ear, Nose & Throat, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Obstetrics & Gynecology (ARMC and MC without L&D).
Essential Job Function
- Engages in patient examinations, assesses their medical past, and interprets test results to implement suitable treatment plans.
- Carries out proactive health screenings by considering the patient's age, medical background, and individual requirements for preventive healthcare.
- Educates patients and their families on the specifics of specialty medical conditions, treatments, and ongoing monitoring.
- Records and archives all patient care information to ensure the integrity of patient records.
- Conducts specialized medical treatments as required in line with the department's standards and roles in various healthcare settings, including inpatient and outpatient departments.
- Examines, troubleshoots, and evaluates clinical and systemic complexities to enhance inpatient and outpatient specialty care.
- Undertakes supplementary duties as instructed.
Education
- Required: Master Degree Nursing or Master Degree Physician Assistant studies. Physician Assistant employed at Cone Health prior to October 14, 2024 with a Bachelor Degree will have the Master Degree requirement waived provided they have maintained employment and PA licensure with Board Certification.
Experience
- Required: None Preferred: 3+ years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:Valid NC RN and Nurse Midwife or NP license OR NC PA licenseBoard Certified within 1 year of date of hire by either the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for PA's OR the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Certification Corporation (NCC) for NP's OR the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) or The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB)BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderNeonatal Resuscitation Protocol (NRP) Certification required for Neonatal Advanced Practice ProvidersIVC Certified within 90 days of employment for Behavorial Health Advance Practice Provider
