Job Description
As an information assurance and compliance specialist, the Cybersecurity Engineer is involved in the planning, execution, and maintenance of technology security systems. This role encompasses tasks such as analyzing security risks, defining technical requirements, documenting procedures, ensuring system availability, and implementing cybersecurity measures. Additionally, maintaining system configurations, installing patches, and enforcing security policies are crucial responsibilities for the cybersecurity engineer to uphold.
Essential Job Function:
- Identifies security vulnerabilities to protect information systems from potential threats.
- Preserves the system by determining authorization levels, management systems, and utilities.
- Identifying abnormalities, reporting violations, and minimizing vulnerabilities help in recognizing issues.
- Security enhancements are implemented through the examination of the existing status, the evaluation of developments, and the prediction of future demands.
- Periodic audits are carried out to pinpoint security breaches and inefficiencies.
- Improve systems by incorporating and managing security protocols.
- Carry out standard system evaluations and security audits, generate performance reviews, and communicate updates on system status.
- Upholds quality standards through adherence to organizational protocols.
- Support in creating, managing, and enforcing security procedures and protocols.
- Take charge of security meetings and play a role in responding to incidents effectively.
- Deliver strategic direction and expert knowledge to support the Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) in their activities. Conduct thorough penetration tests on our computer systems, both internally and externally, to evaluate their resilience against cyber threats.
- Examine the current system, devise strategies for entry, and highlight potential flaws.
- Conduct assessments to identify vulnerabilities in systems and propose strategies for strengthening security protocols.
- Executes any other responsibilities as delegated.
Education:
- Required: Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent experience (10 years' experience in IT with 5 years in IT Security is needed for equivalent experience).
Experience:
- Required: 7 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification. Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) must be obtained w/in 12 months of hire.
