Overview:
The Laboratory Technologist POC oversees and manages the technical tasks related to Point of Care Testing (POCT) within the health system. Their responsibilities include directing the technical operations of equipment and testing systems, following prescribed standards and regulatory guidelines for medical diagnostic testing conducted at or near the Point of Care. The Laboratory Technologist POC is instrumental in assisting non-laboratory staff and guaranteeing precise and trustworthy point of care testing to facilitate prompt decision-making, improve patient treatment, and elevate the general caliber and safety of healthcare offerings.
Responsibilities:
Assesses, organizes, and supervises Point of Care tasks, guaranteeing the execution and revisions of protocols and equipment to foster precise and dependable testing methods and enhance patient care quality.
Provides training to testing personnel, arranges training sessions, and creates educational resources for Point of Care processes and equipment, covering both introductory instruction and ongoing certification to guarantee capable staff, standardized testing methods, and adherence to rules and regulations.
Offers consultation for Point of Care testing, addressing problems with testing procedures and reporting, and furnishing advice and assistance to facilitate prompt resolution of concerns and optimize the effectiveness of Point of Care testing.
Offering advice on newly developed Point of Care equipment, taking into account budget control and adherence to regulatory standards to guide purchasing choices and aid in well-informed decision-making.
Conducts upkeep and setup of Point of Care technology, involving software modifications and upgrades for dependable system operation and precise test outcomes.
Manages a comprehensive database for Point of Care testing zones, aiding in creating, executing, and revising protocols to ensure uniformity.
Carries out additional tasks as required.
