Job Description
The Nursing Technician works alongside the Registered Nurse to observe and track patient conditions accurately. With supervision, this role helps patients with their daily activities and promotes mobility as necessary.
Essential Job Function:
- Supports clients in managing everyday tasks such as eating, personal hygiene, and developing mobility to aid in their recovery and care plan.
- Evaluates patients' quality of life regarding food intake, hydration, and elimination processes to plan for resource allocation and anticipate patient needs.
- Coordinates the movement of patients through the admission, transfer, and discharge process to match their care needs.
- Acts as a support in clinical settings by supervising blood glucose monitoring, documenting vital signs, carrying out EKG tests, using restraints when necessary, and addressing elimination needs to guarantee patients receive optimal care and comfort.
- Assists in the supervision of unit inventories concerning supplies and medical equipment to maintain a clean and safe environment in accordance with the National Patient Safety Goals.
- Double-checks that patients prone to falling have the right arm bands, socks, and signage for ensuring their physical safety.
- Assists in the accurate recording of all clinical treatments, patient interactions, and drug usage to sustain a comprehensive patient history.
- - Demonstrates swift action in response to delegation from registered nurses and shares observations about patients to support teamwork.
- Handles any other duties as deemed necessary.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Required: None
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
