The Occupational Therapist II evaluates the conditions of patients, develops, coordinates, and actively engages in rehabilitation programs that aim to aid in the restoration of optimal functional capabilities, enhance movement, mitigate discomfort, strengthen muscles, and diminish or prevent deformities as a result of disease or injury. This individual also imparts knowledge to patients and their families. In their clinical practice setting, this therapist is adept at efficiently and competently providing care to all patients and fulfilling all responsibilities related to occupational therapy with little supervision. They take the initiative to communicate with various team members, approach known patients with assurance, and stand up for the well-being of their patients and coworkers. In intricate situations, they may seek guidance or support and encounter difficulties when transitioning to cover other areas.
Responsibilities:
Provides evaluation and care for a variety of diagnoses and challenging patient cases.
Conducts thorough evaluations of patients' physical abilities, medical history, and functional limitations to develop individualized treatment plans.
Delivers therapeutic exercises and diverse occupational therapy methods to enhance patients' muscle strength, agility, and flexibility.
Guides patients and their family members in understanding treatment procedures, home-based physical activities, and self-regulation skills to enhance healing progress.
Works with others to develop and enact discharge plans and suggestions for ongoing treatment, potentially needing assistance from team members.
Observes and reports on patients' improvements, treatment effectiveness, and reactions to therapies to enable flexible adjustments in treatment plans.
Engages in collaboration across departments to ensure cohesive patient care and holistic health outcomes are achieved.
Executes any other responsibilities given.
