Overview:
This role involves the responsibility of caring for patients and fulfilling all clinical duties. It involves offering coordination services for multidisciplinary teams in specific areas and delivering medical education to residents, interns, and other learners. The individual actively engages in promoting medical research within their environment. They exercise independent decision-making in diagnosing and treating patients, developing treatment strategies, and guiding interdisciplinary teams towards achieving patient care objectives.
Responsibilities:
Engages in continuous education through reading various publications and attending both local and nationwide conferences to ensure ongoing professional development.
Liaison: Engages in collaborating with fellow professional colleagues and cultivating relationships with potential patient referral channels. Ensures referring doctors are kept up-to-date on patient treatment progress and results.
Patient Care; Offering both direct and indirect care to patients in designated areas. Oversees the interdisciplinary team and provides medical guidance while supervising the tasks of residents and medical students. Involvement in relevant clinical research initiatives is encouraged. Ensures precise and prompt documentation of care for maintaining current medical records essential for billing purposes.
Maintains adherence to the professional guidelines set forth by MCHS, encompassing the Medical Staff By-Laws, Service Excellence pledges, professional practice norms, physician anticipations, and standards for professional conduct. Operates in alignment with MCHS Mission, Vision, and Values by showcasing cooperative and considerate interactions with coworkers, patients, team members, relatives, and guests. Abides by the principles of the Socratic Oath, preserves patient privacy, and behaves with honesty consistently. Collaborates effectively to support MCHS aims and benchmarks.
Quality and Safety: When necessary, engages in medical evaluations, initiatives to enhance quality, examinations, peer evaluations, and other investigations concerning professional care standards. Offers medical oversight and guidance to the diverse team to optimize outcomes for every patient. Maintains adherence to secure practice benchmarks and regulatory requirements.
Engaging in ongoing enhancements and implementing evidence-based methods to strive for superior healthcare and services, aiming for outcomes surpassing the 90th percentile. Adhering to MCHS policies, relevant laws, and regulations by keeping accurate records. Contributing to crafting clinical guidelines, protocols, and initiatives to enhance the quality and effectiveness of care. Collaborating with fellow physicians in sharing designated on-call duties within the designated sectors.

Practitioner must have completed the number of years in a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and met all other requirements for eligibility to receive board certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in the primary medical specialty (or subspecialty) for which the Practitioner is applying for Clinical Privileges. If five (5) or more years have elapsed since the Practitioner completed such residency program, the Practitioner currently must have board-certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in such specialty (or subspecialty).
Fully licensed to practice Medicine in the state of NC.
Meets requirements of the Moses Cone Health System Medical Staff by-laws and obtains the appropriate level of medical staff privileges.
The Practitioner must have a current, and valid DEA registration number, with no involuntary limitations on prescriptive authority (schedule limitations) resulting from DEA disciplinary actions.
Each Practitioner shall maintain in force professional liability insurance as determined by the Moses Cone Health System Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees; currently $1 million each incident and each occurrence, and $3 million aggregate. The Practitioner must provide proof of professional liability insurance coverage, with a current certificate of insurance or a current copy of the policy. The professional liability insurance coverage shall be with a company approved by the North Carolina Insurance Commission and otherwise satisfactory to the Board of Trustees.
