Overview:
The NC Nurse Practice Act guidelines must be followed by healthcare providers to deliver exceptional patient care. The Act mandates healthcare providers to assess, plan, document, organize, prioritize, delegate, supervise, and coordinate treatment procedures for patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric.
Responsibilities:
Administering nursing care requires the use of the nursing process, which involves creating, executing, and assessing care plans. Data analysis from patients and significant others results in comprehensive care plans. Collaborating with healthcare providers, patients, and significant others is mandatory for the admission database and ongoing assessment. Clinical pathways and individualized care plans are utilized to provide age-specific care. The care plan must be adjusted based on the evaluation of the effectiveness of nursing interventions to ensure the provision of high-quality nursing care. Documentation and review of the plan of care, nursing care, nursing interventions, and patient response occurs frequently. Communication with the healthcare team, patients, and significant other is crucial. The identification of home care needs is necessary during the contribution to discharge plans. The care plan must undergo careful revision due to changing patient needs, and advanced competencies and critical thinking skills play a crucial role in day-to-day nursing. Adequately meeting patient and significant others' educational needs enhances the quality of care.
