Department: Digital Consumer Growth Team (DCGT), Cone Health

Reports To: Manager, Digital Consumer Growth

Location: Hybrid Cone Health Facilities, Community Sites, and Virtual/Remote Data Collaboration

Cone Health's Digital Consumer Growth Team is in search of a talented intern who excels in the convergence of digital interaction, data insights, and AI-powered advancements. The internship position is a unique combination, divided between:

1. Encouraging direct interaction with consumers through digital channels and facilitating the activation of MyChart

2. Utilizing artificial intelligence to enhance process efficiency, analyze data, and automate tasks

Interns in this position will assist Cone Health in implementing a comprehensive digital health access strategy and act as a catalyst for innovation by developing solutions to automate communication, improve data representation, and simplify internal processes in order to achieve more efficient outcomes throughout the organization.

This internship is tailored for students who are adept at working with data and enjoy interacting with executives. It is aimed at cultivating the skills of future healthcare technology leaders who can drive system-wide change.

This internship opportunity is a temporary role that has a defined timeframe and will commence with an orientation session scheduled for 9/15/25. Interns are required to complete a maximum of 250 hours within this period.

Responsibilities:

Consumer Engagement & Digital Health Education (50%)

Provide both in-person and online instruction on how to use MyChart, assisting patients in understanding its main functions like scheduling appointments, viewing test results, sending secure messages, completing eCheck-in, and granting proxy access.

Provide assistance at hospital, clinic, and community gatherings, acting as a digital facilitator for patients in need, particularly those encountering obstacles like resetting passwords and establishing accounts.

Assist in implementing outreach approaches that are specifically designed to resonate with diverse cultural groups, including those that are often marginalized or overlooked, such as rural communities in the southern region, families spanning multiple generations, and older individuals.

Collect and present data on interaction statistics (enrollments, usage variances, questionnaire responses) using Epic, Power BI, and event control panels.

Data & AI Integration for Digital Acceleration (50%)

Work together with the DCGT team to pinpoint operational obstacles and suggest the incorporation of AI technologies or automated solutions to enhance the effectiveness of digital engagement efforts.

Develop dashboards or automated workflows using tools such as Power BI, Python, Excel, ChatGPT API, or Microsoft Power Automate to support:

Monitoring the effects of MyChart utilization

Planning the details of an event

Consumer segmentation

Executive reporting

Explore the use of generative AI for digital script creation, FAQs, virtual assistant prototypes, or staff training modules.

Collaborate with IT and data analysts to support trial initiatives regarding intelligent automation of MyChart enrollment, proxy processes, or anticipatory analysis.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Health Informatics, Public Health, Data Science, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

• Strong interest in digital health, AI-enabled transformation, and human-centered innovation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and oral presentation ability for engaging with patients, teams, and leadership.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and at least one data or automation tool (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Python, Tableau, Power Automate).
• Ability to think strategically, work autonomously, and communicate complex ideas clearly.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with Epic MyChart workflows, healthcare data systems, or patient-facing technologies.
• Experience with ChatGPT or OpenAI API, LMS systems, or digital assistant platforms.
• Exposure to customer segmentation, consumer research, or behavioral analytics.
