Job Description
The Physical Therapist Assistant II collaborates with a licensed physical therapist to engage in rehabilitative initiatives aimed at supporting patients in achieving optimal functional levels, increasing mobility, managing pain, enhancing strength, and preventing or addressing deformities resulting from injury or illness, alongside providing education to patients and their families. By executing predetermined care strategies using proven modalities and interventions, this role works towards enabling patients to meet their agreed-upon functional objectives. Oversight of patient progress as per the treatment plan prescribed by the physical therapist is a key responsibility of the Physical Therapist Assistant II, who plays a pivotal role in enhancing patients' functional capacities and aiding their reintegration into daily routines. Possessing a solid understanding of clinical practices in their designated area, this role may require occasional direction and mentorship in day-to-day activities.
Essential Job Function:
- Provides patient care services, conducts evaluations and diagnostic tests, and maintains accurate records of services rendered.
- Carries out predetermined therapy strategies by choosing and executing effective interventions to accomplish patient targets.
- Moves patient forward in assigned therapy program to accomplish targets.
- Delivers therapeutic exercises and various physical therapy methods to enhance the strength, mobility, and flexibility of individuals undergoing treatment.
- Provides instruction to patients and their loved ones regarding treatment regimens, exercises for home use, and strategies for self-care to enhance the effectiveness of recovery.
- Assists in carrying out discharge plans and proposing continued care options in coordination with the physical therapist.
- Keeps track of and logs the progress of patients, the outcomes of treatments, and how individuals respond to interventions to enable adjustments to be made to treatment plans.
- Teams up with colleagues from different areas within the organization to achieve well-coordinated patient care and holistic treatment objectives.
- Executes extra responsibilities as delegated.
Education:
- Required: Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
Experience:
- Required: 2 years.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: North Carolina License by the NCPT Board of Physical Therapy Examiners; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
