Job Description
The Clinical Practice Specialty Registered Nurse (RN) provides exceptional care and support across various clinical settings. Working under minimal supervision, this role ensures the delivery of high-quality specialty patient care and supports the strategic success of healthcare initiatives for that service line. Specialty Care is office based only and includes the following: Oncology, Allergy, Geriatrics, Pulmonary, Dermatology, Urgent Care, and Endocrinology as well as Cardiology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Occupational Medicine, GYN only, ENT, Vascular, Psychiatry, APPs in Community Care Clinic, Wound Care and Patient Care Clinic settings.
Essential Job Function:
- Assesses patient requirements and health conditions within designated clinical environments to provide nursing care accordingly, with a focus on meeting the specific needs of each individual.
- Studies patient data, involving medical background, diagnostic findings, and current condition, to craft personalized nursing care plans.
- Undertakes nursing responsibilities like medication administration, vascular access management, and treatment provision to offer holistic patient care.
- Adheres to established procedures and guidelines for administering medications and treatments, upholding safety protocols for the proper handling of hazardous and non-hazardous medications to ensure the well-being of both patients and healthcare providers.
- Ensures that medical records are reconciled accurately, following both regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Assesses patient responses to interventions and pinpoints additional interventions required to reach defined care goals.
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary care team to enhance the quality of care planning.
- Acts as a seasoned expert and supporter, providing advice, education, and assistance to colleagues and employees to enhance a culture of continual learning.
- Executes other tasks as instructed.
Education:
- Required: Associate degree in nursing, For Oncology RNs Specialty Competency eligible within 3 months of hire.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, For Oncology RNs Specialty Competency eligible within 3 months of hire.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse with 1 year in a clinical specialty hired as defined by ANCC or national nursing organization.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
- Preferred: Certification in Specialty eligible within 1 year of hire.
