Job Description

We invite applications from fresh graduates as well as experienced therapists for the position! The Speech Language Pathologist II is responsible for evaluating and treating patients with a range of communication and swallowing disorders, including speech, language, voice, fluency, and cognitive impairments. The individual in this role has the ability to efficiently and competently provide therapy to patients within their clinical practice environment, fulfilling all obligations associated with speech language pathology with minimal supervision. While independent work is expected in the primary setting, some guidance or mentoring may be needed in complex scenarios or during transitions to other environments. This professional is tasked with fostering communication within the interdisciplinary team, treating known patients with assurance, and standing up for the rights and needs of their patients and colleagues.

Essential Job Function:

  • - Examines and manages various diagnoses and challenging patients.
  • Carries out detailed examinations on patients with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing challenges to assess their communication and oral motor functions.
  • Collaborates in formulating and applying individualized therapeutic approaches informed by research-backed methodologies, patient aspirations, and unique circumstances.
  • Instructs patients and their families on therapy regimens, activities to be done at home, and approaches for self-care to enhance healing progress.
  • Tracks and records the development of patients, the results of treatments, and how they react to interventions to allow for necessary adjustments in treatment plans.
  • Collaborates with a team to develop and put into action discharge plans and ongoing care recommendations.
  • Provides information on the individual's development and existing situation to the appropriate individuals, which could comprise family members or medical experts.
  • Guides and trains new staff members, displays a continuous dedication to enhancing the performance and competency of fellow workers.
  • Executes any other responsibilities as delegated.

Education:

  • Required: Master's degree in Speech Pathology.

Experience:

  • Required: 2 years.

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

  • Required: Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship Year Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience Year BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
