Overview:
The Certified Medical Assistant is instrumental in delivering patient care within a collaborative team setting as prescribed by the Provider, following standard care plans tailored to the patient's specific condition, needs, and age group. This role involves providing support to nursing, laboratory, administrative, and Physician teams to enable effective patient care and positive health outcomes while operating under close supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the compilation of patient data, considering biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors.
- Records vital signs and carries out the care plan as specified by the healthcare provider.
- Adopts protocols and standing orders based on the patient's reported issues or visit grounds.
- Undertakes 12-lead EKG procedures, implements select respiratory care measures, and carries out assigned patient care duties within demonstrated competencies and provided training.
- Administers oral and parenteral medications like immunizations, controlled substances, therapeutic injections, skin evaluations, and other treatment methods based on stated protocols and procedures as well as standards in medical assisting, with oversight from supervising physicians.
- Facilitates the completion of prior authorizations for medications and conveys physician prescriptions to pharmacies using phone and fax as needed.
- - Manages appointment schedules, giving precedence to patients in urgent need and ensuring efficient patient turnover.
- Documents all medical assistant tasks comprehensively and precisely in the patient's medical record.
- Secures all appropriate prior authorizations or pre-certifications to conform with safety guidelines for patients.
- Transmits information regarding patient well-being, queries, and apprehensions to nursing staff and doctor for the purpose of managing and addressing them accordingly.
- Carries out any other assigned responsibilities.

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred: Medical Assistant Program
EXPERIENCE:
Required: None
Preferred: Completion of medical assistant program including clinical rotation and physician office experience
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required from one of the following: American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Allied Health - RMA(AAH), National Health career Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
- BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
- Participation in a clinical orientation, competency evaluation, and ability to pass a clinical skills assessment and medication administration test within ninety (90) days of hire, and within 3 attempts.**
