Overview:
Tasked with providing team-based patient care, the Medical Assistant Certified works alongside the healthcare Provider to deliver treatment according to standard care plans suitable for the patient's condition, requirements, and age bracket. This position offers assistance to nursing, laboratory, administrative, and Physician teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes under careful supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitates the gathering of patient information, encompassing biological, psychological, social, and cultural influences.
- Documents essential data such as vital signs and executes the care plan following the provider's directives.
- Implements protocols and standing orders according to the patient's described symptoms or visit purpose.
- Executes 12-lead EKG assessments, conducts chosen respiratory care interventions, and manages other assigned patient care responsibilities based on demonstrated competencies and adequate training.
- Performs the dispensing of both oral and injectable medications, such as immunizations, controlled substances, therapeutic injections, skin tests, and diverse treatment modalities, in accordance with specified policies and procedures and the ethical guidelines for medical assisting, under the supervision of attending physicians.
- Undertakes the task of prior authorizations for medications and communicates physician prescriptions to pharmacies through phone and fax when necessary.
- - Coordinates appointment bookings, prioritizing emergency situations and managing patient flow effectively.
- Ensures that every medical assistant procedure is accurately, completely, and promptly documented in the patient's medical file.
- Obtains all necessary prior authorizations or pre-certifications in compliance with safety standards for patients.
- Passes on patient condition, inquiries, and anxieties to nursing staff and physician to facilitate proper triaging and handling of messages.
- Executes supplementary duties as needed.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required:
- Successful applicants are required to present a valid certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from an approved certifying body such as the American Allied Health - RMA(AAH) or the National Health Career Association (NHA)
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association offering BLS (CPR) for healthcare professionals.
- Participation in a clinical orientation, meeting competency requirements, and successfully passing a clinical skills assessment and medication administration test are mandatory within 90 days of hire, with a limit of three attempts
