Job Description
The Clinic Radiologic Technologist carries out medical examinations employing X-rays or other diagnostic imaging tests on individuals to establish images of precise body sections. These images are then examined by a physician for the purpose of diagnosing and monitoring ailments. Operating with direct supervision, this position preps patients for the examinations, positions them correctly, handles the equipment, and utilizes their expertise to reduce the radiation dosage to the patient.
Essential Job Function:
- Abides by the instructions given by physicians regarding the anatomical site to be examined through imaging techniques.
- Assists the patient by explaining the procedure in detail and addressing their questions to reduce their anxiety and enhance their awareness of the process.
- Aligns the patient appropriately and sets up the imaging machinery to produce precise images of specified body parts.
- Averts the risk of undue radiation exposure for both healthcare providers and individuals undergoing medical procedures.
- Ensuring adherence to correct techniques and procedures, like patient shielding, is crucial for guaranteeing the precision and trustworthiness of diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Successfully finalizes the required paperwork for each procedure to maintain correct patient documentation and enable efficient communication among healthcare providers.
- Executes supplementary responsibilities as needed.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: ARRT (R), Radiologic Technologist - Dx.
