Job Description
The Instructional Designer Intermediate is tasked with developing and implementing training programs for software managed by the Information & Technology Services (ITS) department. In this role, the individual will create training modules, generate educational materials, configure software training environments, conduct training sessions, and address service tickets and requests. Working under moderate supervision, the position requires collaboration with stakeholders across the organization to enhance both individual and organizational performance. Successful candidates will be able to independently manage Epic Ambulatory, Beacon, and Specialty application training to support care teams in ambulatory clinics, oncology, behavioral health, and value-based care settings. The emphasis is on delivering workflow-based training to drive efficiency, improve quality of care, and enhance the experience for clinicians. Candidates with a background in Epic training and instructional design, particularly in ambulatory, oncology, behavioral health, or specialty care environments, are preferred. Experience with Epic's AI-driven functionalities, decision support tools, and efficiency features is considered a bonus. It is highly desirable for candidates to already hold Epic certification or credentials, though individuals with a strong foundation in Epic training and instructional design who are willing to obtain certification will also be considered. The Instructional Designer Intermediate is responsible for creating and implementing training programs for software managed by the Information & Technology Services (ITS) department. This includes designing curricula, developing educational content, setting up software training environments, conducting training sessions, and addressing service tickets and requests as needed. Collaboration with various stakeholders within the organization is crucial to enhance overall performance at both individual and organizational levels.
Essential Job Function
- Designs and carries out the software training regimen targeting a particular Epic application(s) and other related ITS software, including the development and enhancement of educational content and training aids for all positions. Collaborates with supervisors and analysts to identify the most suitable methods to build training programs and provide user education.
- Delivers training and assistance to all users of the system through a range of educational modalities including group-based teaching in a physical setting, individualized instruction tailored to the learners pace, real-time guidance at the users workspace, periodic updates to refresh knowledge, orientation sessions for newcomers, specialized coaching for skill enhancement, digital courses accessible via the internet, and a mix of online and in-person training formats.
- Takes charge of organizing training logistics and communication, manages training requests, assesses and resolves important service tickets, provides help line support, and interacts with different stakeholders.
- Develops, establishes, validates, and manages the software training environments, collaborating with application and technical groups to maintain coherence between production and training setups.
- Involved in the process of recruiting, choosing, coordinating, training, certifying, and deploying Credentialed Trainers to aid in providing training for both super users and end users.
- Guarantees that CT personnel are adequately prepared and supplied to effectively fulfill specific roles and serve designated user domains.
- Executes any other responsibilities given.
Education
- Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in relevant field.
Experience
- Required: 2 years.
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Clinical employees must maintain licensure appropriate to clinical education and training, without lapse. For Cone HealthLink (CHL) / Epic applications, must satisfactorily complete required Epic certification testing within the timeframe specified in the Epic Certification commitment policy.
