Job Description
The Emergency Department Clinical Care Coordinator is responsible for enabling communication between Emergency Department patients, families, staff, and administration. This position operates with minimal guidance, evaluating the effectiveness of staff members and conducting interviews with prospective employees.
Essential Job Function:
- Supports the Nursing Director of the Emergency Department by supervising unit operations on a daily basis, acting as a leader, and ensuring clinical competency.
- Encourages patients to understand their diagnoses, discharge guidelines, and post-discharge appointments to enhance their role as a knowledgeable clinical reference.
- Collaborates with Clinical Engineering and Facilities Maintenance to review the performance of patient care equipment for patient safety.
- Collaborates with Purchasing and supply chain to restock specialized patient care equipment to ensure there is enough available for medical procedures.
- Takes part in meetings for committees, teams, and councils to improve communication competencies and voice the department's agenda.
- Collaborates with physicians, pharmacists, and lab professionals to relay atypical test outcomes to patients following their release, ensuring they receive relevant information and support.
- Performs departmental audits emphasizing high-risk processes that aim to educate personnel and oversee their performance to enhance their understanding and guarantee safety.
- Executes tasks as directed by superiors.
Education:
- Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Experience:
- Required: 5 years as a Registered Nurse and 1 year in a Clinical Specialty as defined by ANCC or National Nursing Organizations.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
