Job Description
The Occupational Therapist II conducts assessments on patients' conditions, devises and coordinates rehabilitative interventions to aid in restoring maximum functional capacity, enhancing movement, managing pain, increasing muscle strength, and averting or rectifying deformities in individuals afflicted by ailments or trauma. Responsibilities entail educating patients and their families, delivering comprehensive care to patients within their practice environment, and executing occupational therapy duties proficiently and autonomously. This practitioner establishes effective communication with colleagues from various disciplines, treats familiar patients assuredly, and serves as an advocate for both their patients and the healthcare team. The position mandates independent practice in the primary location, may necessitate support in intricate scenarios, and might encounter challenges in providing coverage across different settings.
Essential Job Function:
- Assesses and manages a wide range of diagnoses and patients with increased complexity.
- Performs comprehensive assessments on patients' physical capacities, medical background, and limitations in functioning to create personalized therapy strategies.
- Provides therapeutic exercises and various occupational therapy techniques aimed at enhancing patients' muscle strength, mobility, and flexibility.
- Informs patients and their loved ones about treatment strategies, at-home workout routines, and self-care methods to enhance rehabilitation results.
- Works together with others to create and execute plans for patient discharge, potentially needing input from colleagues.
- Observes and records the advancement of patients, the results of treatment, and reactions to actions to allow for modifications to treatment strategies if required.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams from various departments is essential to ensure that patient care is well-coordinated and that treatment outcomes are comprehensive.
- Helps new employees get familiar with their roles and responsibilities, shows a continuous dedication to enhancing the competence and capabilities of colleagues.
- Carries out additional tasks as required.
Education
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
Experience
- Required: 2 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Licensed by the North Carolina Occupational Therapy Board; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
