Job Description
Overview:
The Patient Account Representative Non-Government is responsible for examining and retrieving outstanding amounts on patient accounts, as well as assisting with billing, record-keeping, and monitoring third-party insurance claims promptly and accurately. Operating with minimal oversight, this position guarantees that comprehensive, precise, and current records are upheld following protocols, facilitating the ability to investigate and confirm collection initiatives, responses to queries, and patient account conditions. This role specifically deals with payers outside of governmental entities.
Responsibilities:
Acts as an intermediary between the company and various external payers. Takes the first step to reach out to third parties to recognize and address any barriers hindering payments. Examines remittance advices from external parties to guarantee adherence to anticipated compensations and to take additional steps if necessary to secure complete reimbursement.
Pursues outstanding insurance accounts as outlined in the policy to ensure that only a limited number of claims exceed the 60-day standard annually without proper resolution or action.
Reviews account totals for correctness to make necessary corrections in compliance with federal/state regulations, as well as hospital contractual agreements with preferred providers, promptly.
Assists in processing requests to secure refunds.
Ensures that detailed, clear, and current record-keeping is upheld following protocol, allowing for easy research and verification of collection activities, responses to queries, and the status of patient accounts. This information can be accessed by all representatives in customer service to guarantee precise responses when resolving patient inquiries.

- High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 3 years of reimbursement experience in a hospital, clinic or medical business office
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
