Job Description
The Speech Language Pathologist II evaluates and provides therapy to individuals with speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive impairments. This professional is capable of delivering high-quality care independently in their clinical environment and executing speech-language pathology duties with little supervision. While adept at managing routine tasks, there may be instances where guidance is needed for challenging cases or when transitioning to different practice settings. In addition to fostering collaboration within interdisciplinary teams, this role demonstrates proficiency in treating familiar patients and championing for their well-being alongside colleagues.
Essential Job Function:
- Assesses and manages a wide variety of diagnoses and patients with more intricate conditions.
- Performs thorough assessments on individuals experiencing speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing challenges to examine their communication and oral motor abilities.
- Contributes to creating and executing personalized treatment plans grounded in evidence-based practices, tailored to assessment results, patient objectives, and specific requirements.
- Informs patients and their relatives about the prescribed treatment strategies, at-home physical activities, and self-care methods for enhancing the progress of recuperation.
- Observes and records the development of patients, their responses to treatments, and the results of interventions to allow for modifications in treatment strategies if required.
- Works together with others to create and execute plans for discharge and suggestions for ongoing care.
- Provides updates on developments and present condition to relevant individuals, such as relatives or healthcare providers.
- Helps new team members get familiar with their roles and responsibilities, showing a continuous dedication to enhancing the effectiveness and expertise of colleagues.
- Carries out additional tasks as required.
Education
- Required: Master's degree in Speech Pathology
Experience
- Required: 2 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship YearLicensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience YearBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
