Job Description
In acute care or Hospital at Home settings, the Clinical Pharmacist II Acute Care plays a crucial role by delivering clinical assistance and dispensing prescribed medications to patients. Key responsibilities include managing medication administration, maintaining the effectiveness and efficiency of medication therapeutics and distribution, assessing the appropriateness of drug utilization, providing nursing support for patient and staff education, and supervising pharmacy technicians.
Essential Job Function:
- Understands and complies with physician directives in order to provide accurate care to the right patient.
- Monitors and validates the entry, packaging, and dispensing of prescription orders.
- Delivers and oversees pharmacy-led protocols, medication use, and drug-related data for healthcare professionals, patients, and the broader community.
- Supervises pharmacy technicians.
- Precepts students.
- Collaborates with healthcare providers, which may include physicians and nurses, to improve medication therapy outcomes and maintain patient safety.
- Executes any other responsibilities as necessary or instructed.
Education:
- Required: Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharmacy.
Experience:
- Required: 3 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Pharmacist in NC within 60 days of hire. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
