Job Description
In an office-based setting, the Advanced Practice Provider Outpatient Specialty Care collaborates with physicians to deliver specialized care to patients. The APP evaluates patients, interprets diagnostic results, and creates and executes treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each patient in cooperation with other healthcare professionals. The Specialty Care services are confined to the office and cover disciplines like Allergy, Geriatrics, Pulmonary, Dermatology, Urgent Care, and Endocrinology, in addition to Cardiology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Occupational Medicine, Gynecology (excluding obstetrics), Ear, Nose & Throat, Vascular, Psychiatry, APPs in Community Care Clinic, and Patient Care Clinic settings.
Essential Job Function:
- Administers in-office medical evaluations, examines the patient's health records, and interprets the findings of diagnostic assessments to administer suitable medical interventions.
- Administers proactive health screenings that are customized according to the patient's age, medical history, and specific health needs to ensure preventive care.
- Informs patients and their loved ones about specialized medical conditions, treatment methods, and aftercare procedures.
- Records patient care information diligently to guarantee precise documentation of patient backgrounds across different locations.
- Carries out specialized medical treatments within the office environment, adhering to departmental standards and clinical duties.
- Works towards assessing and resolving issues to elevate the quality of outpatient specialty care.
- Executes supplementary responsibilities as directed.
Education:
- Required: Master's degree Nursing or Master's Degree Physician Assistant studies. Physician Assistant employed at Cone Health prior to October 14, 2024 with a Bachelor's Degree will have the Master's Degree requirement waived provided they have maintained employment and PA licensure with Board Certification.
Experience:
- Required: None
- Preferred: 3+ years
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Valid NC RN and Nurse Midwife or NP license OR NC PA license Board Certified within 1 year of date of hire by either the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for PA's OR the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Certification Corporation (NCC) for NP's OR the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) or The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB)BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Neonatal Resuscitation Protocol (NRP) Certification required for Neonatal Advanced Practice Providers IVC Certified within 90 days of employment for Behavioral Health Advance Practice Provider. Must possess and maintain a current, unrestricted DEA registration in accordance with federal and state regulations.
