Job Description
Overview:
Under limited supervision, supports the department in ensuring the secure, appropriate, and effective upkeep and restoration of building and equipment systems with expertise in two trades.
Responsibilities:
Displays competence in carrying out necessary repairs and conducting routine checks promptly and accurately, requiring little to no supervision or aid. Utilizes appropriate tools and machinery.
Proficiency in N.F.P.A. 101, the Life Safety Code, and N.F.P.A. 99, Chapters 7-5 and 7-6, along with an in-depth understanding of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations Environment of Care standards, is critical to ensuring optimal healthcare delivery.
Determines the underlying reasons behind machinery malfunctions and conducts necessary repairs to restore optimal efficiency and safety standards, exhibiting proficiency in identifying and addressing the underlying issues.
Offers instruction to employees on repairing and maintaining newly purchased or updated equipment and systems, as well as retraining sessions when necessary.
Exhibits proficiency in managing projects with minimal supervision. Assumes leadership responsibilities when required.
Displays understanding of the hospital and departmental emergency readiness strategies, including managing water, electricity, gas, and sewage system failures, handling internal and external emergencies, and following fire procedures. Additionally, the employee emphasizes safety measures in the workplace.
Assists in the coordination of utility shutdowns for construction projects and contractors, including identifying circuits in affected areas and devising strategies to reduce inconvenience to patients, visitors, and personnel.
Records all necessary details on work orders, P.M's, reports, and estimates with accuracy, neatness, and comprehensiveness. Stays on top of documentation and ensures all information is up-to-date and relevant.
Upholds safe working procedures in the workplace and ensures the work area and tools are well-maintained and functional.
Qualifications:
- Required - High school graduate or equivalent
- Preferred - Trade school graduate with emphasis in two or more of the maintenance crafts
EXPERIENCE:
- 10 or more years experience in a maintenance trade with at least 5 years working in a hospital/healthcare environment
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
Drivers License | Valid Drivers License
PREFERRED
State licensure in one or more of the following maintenance crafts: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration.
