Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Speech Language Pathologist II is to assess and address communication and swallowing challenges in patients. This professional is proficient in delivering therapy in their assigned practice area and executing the necessary tasks of a speech language pathologist with minimal supervision. While adept at working independently in their main practice setting, they may require assistance when faced with complex scenarios and may find it challenging to adapt to diverse clinical environments. Collaborating with various healthcare team members, providing confident care to familiar patients, and being an advocate for their patients and team are integral components of this role.

Essential Job Function:

  • Provides evaluation and treatment for all diagnoses, including intricate patient cases.
  • Completes in-depth evaluations for patients who have difficulties with speech, language, cognition, and swallowing to assess their communication and oral movement functions.
  • Engages in the formulation and execution of personalized therapeutic approaches guided by assessment results, patient aspirations, and unique requirements.
  • Provides patients and their families with knowledge regarding treatment outlines, home-based workouts, and self-control approaches to enhance rehabilitation results.
  • Keeps track of and notates the development of individuals, the effectiveness of therapies, and how they react to treatments in order to make any necessary adjustments to the treatment plans.
  • Engages in collaboration with colleagues to devise and carry out discharge strategies and advice for sustained treatment.
  • Provides updates on the current status and advancements to the relevant parties, such as family members or medical professionals.
  • Aids in familiarizing and instructing new personnel, displaying a continuous dedication to enhancing the efficiency and talents of team members.
  • Executes tasks as delegated by superiors.

Education:

  • Required: Master's degree in Speech Pathology.

Experience:

  • Required: 2 years.

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

  • Required: Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship Year Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience Year BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
