Overview:
The role of the Speech Language Pathologist II involves assessing and managing patients with speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive impediments. They demonstrate competence in delivering therapy autonomously within their clinical sphere and fulfilling all duties related to speech language pathology with minimal direction. While this therapist may need guidance in handling complex scenarios, they could face obstacles when extending their coverage to other settings. They take the initiative to communicate with team members from various disciplines, treat familiar patients competently, and champion the causes of their patients and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
Examines and manages diverse diagnoses and patients with complicated medical issues.
Conducts in-depth evaluations on patients dealing with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing impairments to assess their communication and oral motor functions.
Plays an active role in formulating and executing individualized therapy protocols that are backed by research and designed to cater to the evaluation results, patient aims, and specific needs.
Provides guidance to patients and their families regarding treatment strategies, exercises to be done at home, and self-care methods to promote better recuperation results.
Keeps track of and logs patient's advancements, treatment effectiveness, and reactions to interventions to enable necessary adjustments to be made to treatment plans.
Engages in collaboration with fellow team members to develop and put into action discharge plans and suggestions for further treatment, occasionally needing input from peers.
Communicates the latest developments and existing situation with the appropriate audience, which could involve family members or medical experts.
Assists in familiarizing and educating new team members, displaying a consistent effort to enhance the competency of fellow workers.
Executes any other responsibilities as designated.

Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship Year
Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience Year
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
