Job Description
One of the essential duties of the Pharmacy Supervisor is to oversee the tasks performed by pharmacy employees as they compound, store, and dispense prescribed medications. The main objective is to supervise these activities in a manner that adheres to safety standards, promotes timeliness, and enhances overall productivity. Furthermore, this position plays a pivotal role in the formulation and implementation of operational and clinical guidelines within the pharmacy setting.
Essential Job Function:
- Manages the pharmacy department's daily functions through delegating tasks, arranging employee work shifts, and assessing staff job performance.
- Provides support to customers seeking information on pharmacy services, such as the transportation of medications and guidance on different types of drugs.
- Oversees vital operations to ensure inventory control and manages the transportation of medications and resources for patient care.
- Maintains detailed documentation on drug utilization and stock levels, with a focus on identifying strategies for cost containment and improving security protocols for controlled and high-risk medications.
- Carries out supplementary responsibilities as needed or instructed.
Education:
- Required: Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharm Preferred: MHA, MS Pharmacy or Pharmacy Administration, MBA, or other advanced degree in pharmacy or healthcare leadership.
Experience:
- Required: Current active license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina, or eligible to obtain North Carolina pharmacy license within four (4) 2 months of date of hire; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
- Preferred: 3 years in a pharmacy leadership role.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Current active license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina, or eligible to obtain North Carolina pharmacy license within 2 months.
