Overview:
The Certified Medical Assistant assists in delivering patient care under the guidance of the Provider and in alignment with approved care plans tailored to the patient's requirements, status, and age group. This position operates under strict supervision and support nursing, laboratory, administrative, and Physician teams to enable favorable patient results and treatment.
Responsibilities:
Assists in gathering patient information encompassing biological, psychological, social, and cultural aspects.
Inputs information, such as critical indicators, and executes the care strategy as instructed by the healthcare professional.
Enforces procedures/established directives according to patient concerns or purpose of appointment.
Conducts 12-lead EKG tests, administers specified respiratory treatments, and performs additional patient care duties within the scope of demonstrated competencies.
Administers medications in both oral and parenteral forms, such as vaccines, controlled substances, therapeutic injections, skin tests, and various treatments, following specific protocols, medical assisting guidelines, and under the supervision of physicians.
Fulfills necessary prior authorizations for medications and conveys physician prescriptions to pharmacies through phone and fax where necessary.
Supervises scheduling of appointments, prioritizing those in urgent need and managing patient traffic efficiently.
Ensures that all medical assistant procedures are accurately, fully, and promptly documented in the patient's medical file.
Acquires necessary prior authorization or pre-certification to adhere to safety protocols for patients.
Relays patient status, inquiries, and issues to medical personnel to effectively prioritize and address incoming communications.
Carries out additional tasks as required.

Required:
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required from one of the following: American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Allied Health - RMA(AAH), National Health career Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
Participation in a clinical orientation, competency evaluation, and ability to pass a clinical skills assessment and medication administration test within ninety (90) days of hire, and within 3 attempts.
