The principles of the NC Nurse Practice Act inform the care of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, with caregivers employing assessment, planning, implementation, documentation, organization, prioritization, delegation, supervision, and coordination in the course of their duties.
Responsibilities:
For nursing care to be effective, the nursing process is employed by the nursing assistant to meet patient and significant other requirements. By collecting and analyzing patient and significant other data, an admission database is completed, and an ongoing appraisal is undertaken in collaboration with patients, significant others, and healthcare providers. Clinical pathways are used to form customized age-specific plans of care based on the specific needs of patients and significant others. As variances in the plan of care are identified, it is revised and updated in response to an evaluation of the effectiveness of nursing interventions. Comprehensive documentation of care provisions is maintained, with relevant updates provided to healthcare teams, patients, and significant others. Discharge plans are developed, and home care needs are identified, taking due consideration to changing patient medical conditions. Advanced competencies, combined with critical thinking skills, are utilized on a daily basis, with opportunities for patient and significant other education utilized effectively.
Exhibits adeptness in identifying individual customer needs and offers customized solutions based on unique circumstances surrounding the situation.
Possesses sound knowledge of resource management and identifies opportunities for enhanced resource utilization. Remains an active data collector, regularly analyzing data as a means of developing winning action plans that can be implemented in daily practice.
Appropriately delegates tasks to other team members, while also providing feedback and guidance as needed.
Takes proactive steps to address conflicts in the workplace through effective conflict resolution strategies.
