Job Description

Overview:

In the Nurse Aide Certified role, there is a coordination with evaluating patient care needs to offer appropriate and effective care. This position works under minimal supervision in routine situations, documenting patient care information, implementing recommendations, managing patient care duties, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Keeps an eye on and relays changes in patient symptoms and behaviors to the Registered Nurse to enable adaptations to the care plan.
  • Interprets and responds to the communication, both verbal and nonverbal, of individuals with psychiatric conditions to convey empathy and provide necessary support. Guides educational group activities for patients to enhance their knowledge and well-being.
  • Provides patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse as follows: vital signs, capillary blood glucose, EKG, transports patients via wheelchair/stretcher (without EKG monitoring), bathes, turns, and repositions patients, assists with ambulation of patients, assists with meeting elimination needs.
  • Undertakes supplementary responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required: High school graduate or equivalent

Completion of a state approved Nurse Aide 1 training

EXPERIENCE:

Required: None

Preferred: 1 year experience as a nursing assistant

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:

Required:

Successfully complete BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider within 30 days of hire date.

Current good standing with the NC Nurse Aide Registry verified through DFS https://www.ncnar.org/verify_listings1.jsp
Must have reliable transportation with adequate insurance as determined by the organization.

Valid NC Driver's License and current automobile insurance
