Job Description
The Advanced Practice Provider specializing in Outpatient Specialty Care functions collaboratively with physician(s) to provide patients with specialized care within an outpatient office environment. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, analyzing diagnostic test results, and devising and executing personalized treatment plans in partnership with other healthcare professionals. Specialty Care services are delivered exclusively in an office-based setting and cover a variety of specialties, such as Allergy, Geriatrics, Pulmonary, Dermatology, Urgent Care, and Endocrinology, along with Cardiology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Occupational Medicine, Gynecology (excluding obstetrics), Ear, Nose & Throat, Vascular, Psychiatry, as well as APPs operating in Community Care Clinic and Patient Care Clinic settings.
Essential Job Function:
- Carries out physical assessments on patients in the office, examines their medical records, and interprets the results of diagnostic tests to administer proper treatment to the patient.
- Administers preventative health screenings based on the patient's age, medical history, and distinct requirements in order to deliver proactive healthcare.
- Educates patients and their families on the specifics of specialty medical conditions, treatment modalities, and aftercare instructions.
- Records and maintains patient care information to secure the accuracy of medical histories among different office settings.
- Executes medical procedures related to specialty care within an office, following established departmental guidelines and healthcare roles.
- Improving outpatient specialty care involves evaluating, identifying, and resolving clinical and system issues.
- Completes supplementary duties as instructed.
Education:
- Required: Master Degree Nursing or Master Degree Physician Assistant studies. Physician Assistant employed at Cone Health prior to October 14, 2024 with a Bachelor Degree will have the Master Degree requirement waived provided they have maintained employment and PA licensure with Board Certification.
Experience:
- Required: None Preferred: 3+ years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:Valid NC RN and Nurse Midwife or NP license OR NC PA licenseBoard Certified within 1 year of date of hire by either the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for PA's OR the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Certification Corporation (NCC) for NP's OR the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) or The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB)BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderNeonatal Resuscitation Protocol (NRP) Certification required for Neonatal Advanced Practice ProvidersIVC Certified within 90 days of employment for Behavorial Health Advance Practice Provider
