Overview:
As a Respiratory Therapist Relief Tier 2, one's duties include evaluating patients with respiratory illnesses, performing diagnostic tests, establishing treatment strategies, and conducting respiratory therapy. The role also involves handling medical equipment, keeping tabs on patient reactions, and rendering urgent medical care when required. This position requires a collaborative approach with other healthcare professionals to manage respiratory ailments, enhance pulmonary performance, and increase patients' quality of life. As a support staff, this job involves educating patients on respiratory health and preventive measures, but operates under mild supervision.
Responsibilities:
By designing and implementing respiratory therapies prescribed by medical professionals, the patient's lung capacity can be improved and discomfort can be eased.
The delivery of exceptional care is ensured by performing pulmonary function tests, analyzing and explaining assessments and exam outcomes, and developing respiratory therapy regimens in collaboration with doctors and as per prescriptions.
Assists patients in fulfilling their treatment plans by administering inhalants, operating mechanical ventilators, environmental control systems, therapeutic gas administration devices, and aerosol generators.
The application of respiratory therapy treatments involves carrying out bronchopulmonary drainage, aiding in breathing exercises, and observing the physiological reactions to therapy which may include monitoring vital signs, changes in arterial blood gases, and alterations in blood chemistry levels.
One way to determine the efficacy of a respiratory therapy treatment plan is by closely monitoring the patient's progress. By observing and keeping notes on their improvement, healthcare professionals can better evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment and determine if any adjustments or modifications need to be made. This approach helps ensure that the patient is receiving the best possible care and making the most progress towards their respiratory health goals.
Collaboratively develops post-hospitalization plans with the medical team, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Ensures that the prescribed therapeutic program is continued even after the patients are discharged by creating home exercise routines and educating the patients, caregivers, and family members on the procedures.
Executes additional responsibilities as directed.

Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a RRT
Licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board as a CRT or RRT
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
ACLS-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
