Job Description

The Speech Language Pathologist II is tasked with assessing and addressing the needs of patients with speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. The individual in this role is equipped to effectively provide treatment to patients within their clinical context and fulfill all responsibilities of a speech language pathologist with minimal supervision. The position necessitates independent practice in the primary setting, potential need for guidance in complex situations, and possible challenges in transitioning across different settings. Communication initiation among team members, confident treatment of familiar patients, and advocacy on behalf of patients and the team are key aspects of this role.
Essential Job Function:
- - Evaluates and handles all medical conditions and patients with complex needs.
- Conducts in-depth evaluations on individuals with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders to analyze their communication and oral motor capabilities.
- Takes part in designing and executing customized intervention programs that are guided by evidence, patient goals, and specific necessities.
- Advises patients and their relatives concerning treatment protocols, home-based workout routines, and strategies for self-regulation to advance recovery results.
- Watches over and documents the improvement of patients, the outcomes of treatments, and their responses to interventions to enable appropriate modifications to treatment plans.
- Engages in teamwork to devise and implement discharge strategies and suggestions for continued care.
- Announces advancements and the current state of affairs to the necessary parties, including family members or healthcare professionals.
- Supports in orienting and training new team members, exhibits a persistent commitment to enhancing the effectiveness and proficiency of coworkers.
- Undertakes supplementary duties as assigned.
Education
- Required: Master's degree in Speech Pathology
Experience
- Required: 2 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship YearLicensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience YearBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
