Job Description
Overview:
The Coder Credentialed performs precise medical information coding and abstraction for billing and statistical needs, inputting the data into a digital database. With moderate oversight, this position operates autonomously to guarantee prompt and accurate coding and finalization of patient records in alignment with departmental benchmarks.
Responsibilities:
Ensures that patient accounts are accurately coded and finalized according to departmental and regulatory requirements and objectives within the specified timeframe.
Ensures precision in alignment with departmental and regulatory guidelines.
Monitoring unprocessed accounts and carrying out additional workflow procedures to guarantee the best possible revenue cycle efficiency.
Collaborates with healthcare professionals to enhance documentation, ensuring it reflects the true severity of the patient's condition and aligns with medical necessity criteria for accurate claim processing.
Finishes all required schooling before the set due date.
Works together with colleagues to support ongoing professional development in the coding field and maintain peak efficiency.
Carries out additional responsibilities as required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
Required:
American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) - Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician's based (CCS-P) OR from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) - Certified Profession Coder (CPC), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)
