Job Description

Provides assistance to the RN by observing and recording patient conditions and helping with mobility and routine care under close guidance.

Essential Job Function

Assists with everyday tasks, including eating, hygiene, and movement, to support patient recovery and the care plan.
Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
Assists with patient care tasks including vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKG acquisition, restraint management, and elimination needs to promote comfort and safety.
Helps ensure proper inventory management of supplies and equipment to maintain safety and cleanliness consistent with National Patient Safety Goals.
Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
Records patient care activities, interactions, and medication usage to ensure complete and precise medical documentation.
Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

Licensure/Certification/Listing

Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
