Overview:
The Respiratory Care Practitioner's primary duties include evaluating individuals with respiratory ailments, performing tests to diagnose conditions, creating treatment strategies, and delivering respiratory therapies. As part of their responsibilities, they oversee the operation of various medical equipment, observe how patients react to treatments, and offer urgent assistance in critical situations. Collaboration with other medical professionals is crucial for managing respiratory issues, boosting pulmonary capacity, and promoting patient welfare. While receiving moderate supervision, they also educate patients on maintaining healthy respiratory function and avoiding illnesses.
Responsibilities:
Enhances lung function and reduces discomfort through the provision of respiratory therapy treatments as per medical directives.
Delivers excellent healthcare by performing pulmonary function tests, analyzing and explaining assessments and test findings, and devising respiratory therapy plans with input from doctors and based on prescriptions.
Aiding patients in following their prescribed treatment regimen by giving inhalants, managing mechanical ventilators, administering therapeutic gases, overseeing environmental control mechanisms, and operating aerosol generators.
Delivers respiratory care procedures by executing bronchial drainage, aiding in respiratory exercises, and observing the body's reactions to treatment, including checking vital signs, arterial blood gases, and alterations in blood chemistry.
Observing, documenting, and assessing the patient's advancement through respiratory therapy interventions to suggest necessary changes and adaptations in the treatment regimen is an essential aspect of evaluating the impact of the therapy plan.
Concludes the process of discharge planning through collaboration with physicians, nurses, social workers, and additional healthcare professionals during patient care meetings.
Ensuring the maintenance of the treatment regimen post-discharge through the creation of personalized home workout routines and educating patients, families, and caregivers on their implementation.
Carries out additional tasks as required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
Required:
Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care as an RRT
Licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board as a CRT or RRT;
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
ACLS-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must obtain RRT within 6 months of employment to the licensure section
