Job Description
The Environmental Service Technician is responsible for cleaning and sterilizing patient rooms, treatment areas, restrooms, and public spaces to align with the hospital's standards for customer service. Working under supervision, this position focuses on preventing illnesses by complying with environmental and infection prevention standards set by external regulatory bodies.
Essential Job Function
- The accurate recording of items was achieved through documenting cleaning tasks on the proper forms.
- Regularly updates the supervisor on current tasks and works together to address any complex or urgent issues.
- Aids in observing and regulating supply levels to meet both departmental requirements and financial targets.
- Contributes to maintaining the cleanliness and operational status of equipment and storage spaces to facilitate departmental efficiency.
- Administers carpet stain removal to uphold a tidy and inviting space for guests and patients.
- Guides in the choice of cleaning agents and equipment to avert damage, sanitize effectively, and reduce the likelihood of illnesses.
- Cleans various areas per department standards to meet customer needs, encompassing routine and weekly cleaning tasks, as well as cleaning in discharge rooms, medication rooms, IV storage rooms, and refrigerators.
- Does not handle medications and is monitored when in areas where narcotics can be accessed.
- Adjusting accordingly involves making flexible changes to address needs based on their priority level.
- Undertakes supplementary duties as instructed.
Education:
- Required: Associate degree in nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse.
- Preferred: 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
