Job Description
Recent graduates as well as experienced therapists are welcome to apply. The Speech Language Pathologist II evaluates and provides treatment for patients with speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive impairments. In this role, the clinician delivers effective and efficient care within their practice setting and performs all speech-language pathology responsibilities with minimal supervision. The position involves working independently in the primary setting, though guidance or mentoring may be needed for more complex cases, and adapting to different settings may be challenging at times. The clinician actively communicates with interdisciplinary team members, manages familiar cases confidently, and advocates for both patients and colleagues.
Essential Job Function:
- Evaluates and treats all diagnoses and more complex patients.
- Performs thorough assessments of patients with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing difficulties to evaluate their communication abilities and oral motor function.
- Participates in the development and implementation of evidence-based, personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patients' goals, and individual needs.
- Provides education to patients and their families on treatment plans, home exercise programs, and self-management strategies to support improved recovery outcomes.
- Monitors and documents patients' progress, treatment outcomes, and responses to interventions so that treatment plans can be adjusted as needed.
- Works with other team members to develop and carry out discharge plans, including recommendations for ongoing care.
- Reports progress and current status to appropriate parties, which may include family members or medical professionals.
- Supports the onboarding and training of new staff while consistently demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the skills and performance of colleagues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: Master's degree in Speech Pathology.
Experience:
- Required: 2 years.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship Year Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience Year BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
