Job Description
The Coder Credentialed accurately translates medical information into billing codes and abstracts it for statistical analysis, recording all details into a computerized platform. With minimal guidance, this position upholds efficient and accurate coding practices to finalize patient accounts within the specified departmental benchmarks.
Essential Job Function:
- Maintains timely coding and completion of patient accounts to meet established department and regulatory standards and goals.
- Ensures correctness in alignment with departmental and regulatory norms.
- Keeps track of unencoded accounts and conducts various workflow tasks to uphold optimal revenue cycle efficiency.
- Engages with healthcare professionals to enhance the accuracy of documentation, ensuring it reflects the severity of the patient's condition and supports the medical necessity for treatments and claims.
- Achieves completion of all obligatory educational requirements ahead of schedule.
- Collaborates with team members to aid in the advancement of knowledge and skills in the coding industry, promoting top-notch performance.
- Executes any other responsibilities as delegated.
Education
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
Required: 3 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
Required: American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) - Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician's based (CCS-P) OR from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) - Certified Profession Coder (CPC), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)
