Job Description
This position of Nursing Technician - Nursing Secretary entails supporting the unit through performing clerical tasks and providing receptionist services alongside assisting the Registered Nurse in caring for patients. With oversight, this role involves delivering essential care and aiding in communication for patients, their families, and healthcare employees within the hospital setting.
Essential Job Function:
- Helps patients with essential hygiene routines such as bathing, grooming, and checking key physiological indicators to foster their ability to move and recuperate.
- Supplies meals and additional nutritional support to patients while communicating any notable shifts in patient well-being to the Registered Nurse.
- Assists with admitting, transferring, and discharging patients to facilitate timely service and bed allocation.
- Aids the Registered Nurse by performing hourly check-ins and promptly addressing patient requirements in multiple wards.
- Manages inventory for supplies, equipment, and tools, requesting replenishments as required to sustain daily activities.
- Maintains a record of expenses and room designations to ensure the hospital's records are correct.
- Watches over tools and notifies necessary staff members about necessary maintenance and repairs to facilitate seamless operations and minimize the risk of patient harm.
- Completes routine front desk responsibilities, such as taking phone calls and receiving visitors, to aid clients and guests.
- Executes supplementary responsibilities as directed.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Required: None.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
