Job Description

Overview:

The role of the Patient Access ED Registration Specialist involves being the initial contact person and ensuring a friendly atmosphere while addressing the requirements of both internal and external clients in the emergency department. It includes accurately recognizing patients and recording their personal, financial, legal, and health information. The working hours for this position are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses various tools and aids to complete duties with precision and effectiveness, ensuring the accurate input of necessary data into the digital healthcare platform.
  • Adheres to established protocols for accurate identification and allocation of medical record numbers
  • Checks demographic and insurance details thoroughly to ensure they are complete, rectifying any shortcomings promptly to avoid delays in collections caused by inaccurate or inadequate information.
  • Ensures that registration procedures for emergency department patients adhere to EMTALA regulations. Recognizes individuals displaying urgent symptoms and initiates the appropriate medical procedures.
  • Secures all necessary regulatory approvals.
  • Thoroughly and precisely records insurance verification details, including deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and policy restrictions, confirms patient responsibilities with insurers, computes patient charges, collects payments during registration, and logs the information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Demonstrates consistently strong customer service behaviors towards all patients and visitors in order to enhance positive patient interactions.
  • Provides support to patients in reaching their required locations and oversees the flow of visitors in compliance with hospital regulations and safety protocols.
  • Carries out additional tasks as required.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 1 year of experience.
