Job Description
The primary responsibility of a Radiologic Technologist is to carry out medical procedures like X-rays or other diagnostic imaging tests to produce images of targeted body regions. These images are then analyzed by a physician to diagnose and track illnesses. Under close supervision, the incumbent readies patients for the procedures, positions them accurately, operates the equipment, and efficiently reduces radiation exposure by applying their knowledge and abilities.
Essential Job Function:
- Abides by the instructions given by physicians regarding the particular area on the patient's body in need of imaging.
- Communicate with the patient to walk them through the procedure and respond to any queries to alleviate their anxiety and improve their comprehension of the process.
- Ensures the patient is properly placed and fine-tunes the imaging apparatus to the specified alignment for producing clear images of distinct body regions.
- It prevents excessive radiation exposure for both medical staff and patients, ensuring safety and minimal risks.
- Employing accurate techniques and protocols, such as implementing patient shielding, is vital for guaranteeing the precision and trustworthiness of diagnostic imaging examinations.
- Ensures proper completion of documentation for each procedure to maintain comprehensive patient records and promote smooth collaboration among healthcare providers.
- Undertakes supplementary duties as directed.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program.
Experience:
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: ARRT (R) | Radiologic Technologist - DxBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare.
