Job Description
The Environmental Service Technician ensures the cleanliness and disinfection of patient areas, treatment areas, restrooms, and public spaces in adherence to the hospital's departmental standards to fulfill customer service requirements. This position works under supervision to maintain environmental and infection control standards set by external regulatory bodies to prevent the transmission of diseases.
Essential Job Function:
- Cleaning duties were documented on the correct paperwork to accurately list items.
- Establishes effective communication with the supervisor to relay information about current responsibilities and resolve any intricate or urgent matters.
- Helps in overseeing inventory quantities to meet departmental supply demands and financial goals.
- Supports the maintenance of equipment and storage spaces to promote efficient departmental procedures.
- Proactively treats and eliminates carpet stains to sustain a clean and welcoming appearance for visitors and those receiving care.
- Guides in the choice of cleaning agents and equipment to avert damage, sanitize effectively, and reduce the likelihood of illnesses.
- Aligns cleaning procedures with departmental standards to fulfill customer expectations, including routine and weekly cleaning tasks and cleaning activities in discharge rooms, medication rooms, IV storage rooms, and refrigerators.
- Avoids direct contact with medications and is escorted in locations where narcotics are accessible.
- Reordering needs based on importance and adapting accordingly are essential steps in effective prioritization.
- Executes additional responsibilities as tasked.
Education
- Required: Associate's Degree in NursingPreferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Experience
- Required: 1 year as a Registered NursePreferred: 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact stateBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
